The Boy in the Church premired Off-Off Broadway December 3rd, 2015 at Theater 54.  Written by Harold Hodge, The Boy in the Church is a bold piece meant to contribute to today's conversation on equality in America. Directors, Harold Hodge and Holly Wright, proudly make their New York Directorial debut with this moving piece of theater. The piece is an original modernized adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The dark novel shed light on the realities of Hugo's world. The Boy in the Church takes the same social issues and portrays them in a modernized setting. Set in the Great Depression, the play highlights America's dark past, tying social injustices from the past and present. The text raises the question, how much has really changed in the last 75 years?
